Model X is the flagship model in Elon Musk’s line up.

Based on the game changing Model S, the Model X is the first production electric SUV.

The Model X uses a modified version of the Model S chassis, with dual motor all wheel drive standard and either a 75 or 90 kW battery pack to deliver a claimed 470 kilometre range. It is also rated to 5,000 pounds towing capacity, around two and a half tonnes.

Following Tesla’s usual procedure, the Model X was released in Tesla’s home state of California first, followed by the rest of the USA, then staged release around the world. Australian deliveries are slated for the first half of 2017 for those who have pre ordered their cars.

When ordered in the Performance variant, with Ludicrous Speed mode activated, the Model X is the fastest SUV in the world.
