The Tesla Roadster was the first vehicle from Elon Musk’s Tesla company. It was a proof of concept and was only ever going to be built in a limited numbers run.
It was also the first production EV to feature a lithium ion battery pack.
built on a modified Lotus Elise chassis, and assembled by Lotus in England, the Roadster was built from 2008 to 2012.
Briefly sold in Australia for almost $200,000, the Roadster is a rare and highly desirable car.
The official range is just under 400 kilometres although one has been driven over 500 km in a record breaking run.
Approximately 2,500 Roadsters were built in total, with a very tiny number of RHD ones built.
